FAQS
How long does microblading last?
Microblading typically lasts 3-5 years if not maintained with touch ups. Many different factors can affect this including: skin type, pigment color used (darker pigments tend to last longer than lighter ones), sun exposure, and skin care regiment. Microblading is semi-permanent and will slowly fade over time. Wearing sunscreen directly on the brow is the best way to ensure that your brows continue to look the way you want them to! Most of my clients see me for “Annual Touch Ups” every 1.5-2 years.
How long is the appointment?
The initial appointment will take about 2.5 hours. I start each new client experience with a very thorough consultation where we will discuss your goals for the appointment, which service will be best for you, and realistic expectations for our first session. Next, I will spend about 30-45 minutes mapping out your new brow shape. I will use a combination of your natural brow, bone structure, your unique facial features, and the golden ration compass to achieve a shape that will be best suited for you as an individual. We will make sure we are both happy with the shape before moving forward. The second half of the appointment is spent creating your new brows, allotted time for letting the pigment mask, and discussing aftercare and expectations for healing.
Does microblading hurt?
I use a numbing gel after the first pass of pigment is worked into the skin and once that is applied, clients say they cant’t feel a thing! I personally do not numb for the first round because it can affect the texture of the skin, and we need the skin in its normal state to ensure I know exactly how deep I’m going that first round. Most clients are very relieved when I make the first stroke and they realize it’s not as bad as they imagined it might be.
What if I don’t know which service will be the best fit for me?
This is a question I get a lot! Many clients aren’t sure which service will be right for them (or what the difference is in general) until we go over their unique starting point at the consultation. Fear not. Each service is booked out for the same amount of time so that we have plenty of wiggle room to get you your dream brows, regardless of what you originally booked.
What is the “6-8 Week Touch Up”?
This is a two-appointment process. A touch up appointment will take place anywhere from 6-8 weeks after the initial appointment. This follow-up allows me to perfect any pigment that needs to be reenforced so that you’re good to go for the next year or two. These touch ups are $100 for microblading and powder and $125 for combo brows.
How do I book an Annual Touch Up?
All touch ups get booked directly through me. Annual touch ups should take place around 1.5-2 years after your most recent appointment. If you’re not sure if you need a touch up yet, you can send me a photo of your brows (without makeup) and I will let you know if it’s time to book. It’s important that you don’t let your brows fade so much that we can no longer follow the previous shape. If we do have to reshape your brows, your appointment might incur an additional cost. If you’re ready for a refresh, feel free to text me at 913-424-7700.
Can I still get my brows waxed like normal?
Yes! But, leading up to your appointment, I ask that you grow your brows out and avoid waxing for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. The stray hairs normally removed are often handy to have when we fill in your shape!
After each appointment, I also ask that you avoid waxing for about 1 month after to allow the brow to heal fully.
What if my natural brows are lighter than my hair color?
When it comes to choosing a pigment color for your microblading, my goal is always to match it to your natural brow/hair color so it looks like an extension of your natural brow hair. If you get your brows tinted regularly, make sure you come to your appointment with your brows tinted to the color you typically use so I can see that on the day of! Please tint your brows at least 1 week prior to your appointment so they’re not too dark/pigmented.
